Snoozing and follow-ups
Two tools keep track of mail that is not up right now. They sound similar but solve opposite problems:
Snoozing takes an email out of its folder and brings it back later, for mail that is in your way right now.
Follow-up leaves the mail where it is and reminds you if no reply has come in by a certain time, for mail whose reply you are waiting for.
Snoozing
Section titled “Snoozing”On the email, pick Snooze (the bell symbol in the action bar,
shortcut H, or by right-click) and a time:
| Choice | Time |
|---|---|
| Later today | 5 pm, after that the next full hour |
| Tonight | the next free slot at 5, 8, 10 or 11 pm |
| Tomorrow | tomorrow at 9 am |
| This week | Thursday at 9 am |
| Next week | Monday at 9 am |
| Custom | date and time of your choice |
Optionally attach a short note. With Notify me (on by default) YouniqMail lets you know when the mail is back.
On the server the email moves to the “Snoozed” folder, which YouniqMail creates when needed, and appears in the sidebar under All Snoozed. At the chosen time it returns to its original folder, as unread and in its usual place in the list sorted by date.
Bringing it back early works anytime: open the mail and pick Unsnooze in the notice at the top, or Remove Snooze in the snooze menu.
Follow-up
Section titled “Follow-up”A different case: you sent a quote and want to chase it if there is no answer within a week.
On the email, pick Follow-up reminder (the clock symbol in the action bar) and a time: In 1 day, In 2 days, In 3 days, In 1 week, In 2 weeks (each at 9 am) or Custom, then Set. After you send an email, YouniqMail suggests this right away too.
If the other side replies before then, the reminder resolves itself. If nothing comes, YouniqMail speaks up at the deadline, and the email shows No reply received with the Write Follow-up Email button. All open follow-ups are collected in the Follow-Ups entry in the sidebar; the dashboard counts them.
Follow-ups belong to the Pro feature set. Existing ones keep running without Pro, only new ones cannot be created then. Snoozing is free.
Both features can be turned off under Settings → Mails → General, as long as no mail is snoozed and no follow-up is open.
Which one when
Section titled “Which one when”| Situation | Tool |
|---|---|
| “I’ll deal with this on the weekend” | Snooze |
| “Waiting for a reply, chase otherwise” | Follow-up |
| “Should jump at me tomorrow morning” | Snooze |
| “Invoice sent, paid within 14 days?” | Follow-up |
The mnemonic: snoozing defers your task, a follow-up watches theirs.
