Sender addresses and aliases

Many mailboxes accept mail for several addresses: hello@, billing@ and support@ all land in the same account. With identities (aliases) you also reply under the matching address, without setting up separate accounts.

Each identity consists of an address, optionally its own display name, and optionally its own default signature.

  1. Open Settings → Email Accounts.
  2. Select the account.
  3. In the Identities & Aliases section, click Add identity. An empty row appears.
  4. Enter the address and, if needed, display name and Default signature. Changes are saved as soon as you leave a field; there is no separate save button.

The new address then appears in the sender picker of the compose window, indented under its account. If the account is hidden in the compose window, its identities are missing too.

If the same address is already an identity of another account, YouniqMail points this out.

Reply to a mail that was addressed to an alias, and YouniqMail automatically picks that address as the sender. The recipient sees the address they wrote to, not your main one. The same applies when forwarding. YouniqMail checks the addresses in To and Cc for this, not Bcc.

  • Role addresses: support@, billing@, jobs@: one mailbox, cleanly separated on the outside.
  • Custom domain on a hosted service: the mailbox runs at the provider, the outside world sees your own domain.
  • Separate display names: the same address, but “Jane Doe” or “Acme Corp, Accounting” depending on the occasion. When picking automatically for a reply, YouniqMail takes the first matching identity; you then choose the display name by hand.

Creating and changing identities belongs to the Pro feature set. When Pro ends, existing identities are kept and remain usable as senders.
