Activating a license
After the purchase you receive an email with your license key. Activation binds it to this device. It needs an internet connection once.
Activating
Section titled “Activating”- Open Settings → Pro / License.
- In the Activate license key section, paste the key from the purchase email into the field.
- Click Activate or press Enter.
Spaces at the start or end do no harm, they are removed. If you have an activation link instead of the key, clicking it opens YouniqMail, and the app asks whether it should take over the key.
Activation registers the device with the license server, under your computer’s name. After that, YouniqMail checks the license occasionally in the background, at most once a day. Verify now triggers the check by hand.
The Pro page then shows, under License status, the license type (one-time purchase or subscription), the purchase date, the purchase email and, for one-time purchases, until when updates are included.
Working offline
Section titled “Working offline”- One-time purchase: after activation, Pro works permanently without a connection.
- Subscription: YouniqMail must be able to check the license online now and then. If that fails for two days, the Pro page shows “license check pending” and the days remaining. After 14 days without a successful check, Pro pauses until the next check succeeds.
Purchase email not at hand?
Section titled “Purchase email not at hand?”The key sits in the payment provider’s confirmation email. A look into the spam folder is worth it; searching for the confirmation subject usually finds it faster than digging through any mailbox.
If activation fails
Section titled “If activation fails”“This license is already active on 2 devices”: One license covers two devices at a time. Deactivate it on one of the others first; see how under Managing devices.
No connection to the license server: Activation needs the internet once. Behind strict corporate proxies the contact can fail, and a different network for this one step helps.
Key not found: Check for copy errors. Missing characters are the classic. Copying and pasting the whole key is safest.
Another key, revocation
Section titled “Another key, revocation”If you activate another key, after a renewal for instance, it replaces the previous one, and that key’s device slot becomes free.
If a license is refunded or canceled, the Pro page shows “License revoked” after the next check. The Pro features pause, your data stays untouched.
Second device and machine change
Section titled “Second device and machine change”Both run on the same mechanics of two device slots and deactivation, described under Managing devices.
