All search operators

Search operators are tokens in the search field following the pattern operator:value. They combine freely with search text and with each other; values containing spaces go in quotation marks:

from:"Anna Schmidt" is:unread in:INBOX contract

Upper and lower case make no difference, neither in operators nor in values.

Operator Finds
from: mail from this address or name
to: mail to this address or name, Cc and Bcc included
cc: mail with this address or name in copy (Cc)

A part is enough: from:@supplier.example finds every sender at that domain.

Operator Finds
subject: mail whose subject contains this text
scope:subject restricts the free search text to the subject
"…" the exact phrase instead of separate words
Operator Finds
after:2026-01-01 mail from this day on
before:2026-06-30 mail up to this day

Both together bracket a range, with the first and the last day included. Instead of 2026-01-01 you can also write 1.1.2026 (day.month.year).

Operator Finds
has:attachment mail with any attachment
has:pdf mail with a PDF attachment
has:image mail with an image attachment (embedded images such as a logo in the signature do not count)
Operator Finds
is:unread unread
is:read read
is:flagged flagged, in any color
is:pinned pinned
Operator Finds
in:Invoices mail in the folder with this name or path, in all accounts
account:Work mail of the account with this name or email address

The standard folders have fixed names that work regardless of what your provider calls the folder: in:inbox, in:sent, in:drafts, in:trash, in:archive and in:spam (or in:junk). So in:trash finds the trash of every account, even where it is called “Deleted Items”.

All operators combine as AND: each additional one narrows the result. A few combinations from practice:

from:@supplier.example has:pdf after:2026-01-01

All the supplier’s invoice PDFs from this year.

is:unread has:attachment before:2026-07-01

Unread backlog with attachments, cleanup candidates.

to:support@ is:unread account:Company

Unread mail to the support address in the company account.

in:trash quote

The quote you deleted by mistake, in the trash of every account.

Operators that check the mails themselves change the order of the results: with them, the newest mails come first. in:, account: and scope:subject keep the ordering by best match.

An unknown value such as is:important is not skipped silently: YouniqMail reports it and searches without it.
